About Project
Walila: The Modern Sound of North African Sacred Music
With the intention of creating a cultural bridge between the Western and Arab worlds, Daniel Masson (most know for his Buddha Bar productions) travels to Fes, Morocco to record musicians for his latest album, Walila. Each of the four songs produced for Daniel’s EP album highlights a different stage of his music making process. We follow him through his Morocco experience, get a look at the creative undertaking of composing electronic music in his studio in France, and as the film builds to the final live performance of the album at the Festival of Sacred Music of Fes, the question in Daniel’s mind remains: Will this new blend of music styles be accepted by the Moroccan audience as well as the Western audience?
